2025 European Championships
Italy retains the continental crown. Fresh off their historic breakthrough at Paris 2024 and first-ever women’s team Olympic medal, the Italian women added more to the record books in Leipzig by defending their European crown. The squad reunited Paris team silver medalists Manila Esposito, Italy’s first Olympic balance beam bronze medalist, and Alice D’Amato, Italy’s first women’s artistic gymnastics Olympic champion with her beam gold. Anchored by Paris Olympians, Italy’s lineup included Sofia Tonelli, along with first-year seniors Giulia Perotti and Emma Fioravanti. Together they carried Italy to 161.930, ahead of Germany (158.396) and France (156.728). Manila Esposito won the AA title (54.965) - the first woman to win consecutive European AA championships since Svetlana Khorkina 1998-2002. Spain’s Alba Petisco won silver (53.265) and Romania’s Ana Barbosu bronze (52.299). (May 31)
2025 Canadian Championships
Lia-Monica Fontaine won the senior all-around at the 2025 Canadian Championships in Calgary with a two-day total of 106.547, ahead of Gabrielle Black (104.682) and Amy Jorgensen (100.780). The first-year senior extended a junior record that includes back-to-back national all-around titles in 2023 and 2024. Gabrielle Black topped beam totals across both days, strengthening her case for Canada’s 2025 World Championships team. The Utah commit joins NCAA in the class of 2026. Amy Jorgensen claimed AA and UB bronze, with upgrades on bars and +0.6 lift in D-score (4.7 to 5.3) versus 2024. The event featured 4x Olympian Ellie Black and 3x Olympian Shallon Olsen. (May 30)
