Rivera Wins National All-Around With Precision Execution

Olympic team gold medalist Hezly Rivera secured the senior women's all-around title at the 2025 Xfinity U.S. Championships in New Orleans with a two-day total of 112.000. Rivera entered Day 2 with a narrow 0.200 lead and closed out Championships by increasing her margin through cleaner execution. Although Day 2 difficulty score dropped by 0.2, Rivera improved execution scores by a full point, and avoided any neutral deductions. That improvement turned a slim lead into a comfortable win. Rivera also secured National Champion titles on all other events but vault - tying with Skye Blakely on bars, winning beam with half a point margin, and floor - edging Joscelyn Roberson by three tenths.

Championship Final Results

  • Rivera wins national title at 112.000
  • Wong takes silver at 111.200 with stellar execution
  • Roberson claims bronze at 109.600 propelled by high difficulty
  • Skye Blakely ties for bars gold and claims beam silver in comeback
  • Rivera ties for bars gold, and wins additional national titles on beam and floor

Wong's Artistry and Execution Elevates Her to Silver

Leanne Wong delivered under pressure with the most consistent execution of the field. She increased her vault difficulty on Day 2 and matched it with high execution scores across all events, delivering a Day 2 all around a point higher than Day 1 AA. Despite starting with difficulty scores considerably behind both Hezly Rivera and Joscelyn Roberson - a cumulative 2.7 (1.8/ 0.9 for days 1/2) and 3.7 (2.2/ 1.5) points respectively, Wong delivered stellar artistry and execution that more than compensated. Notably, the only gymnast of the top 3 to avoid neutral deductions, Wong's cumulative E-scores outpaced Rivera's by almost two points (1.9) and Roberson's by more than five (5.3). Despite Rivera's cumulative D-score advantage of more than two and a half points (2.7), Wong propelling herself to AA silver, landing just 0.8 points behind Rivera overall. Additionally, Wong claimed the US National vault title, and won bronze on bars. Wong’s experience, consistency, and composure under pressure reinforce her role as a proven performer who can help lead the US team to shine on the world stage.

Roberson Holds Difficulty Edge, Falls to Bronze

Joscelyn Roberson came in with one of the highest difficulty totals but could not match the execution levels of Rivera and Wong. She delivered steady performances on bars and beam, but encountered some difficulties on floor and vault landings Day 2, which cut into her significant difficulty advantage and left her nearly 2.5 points behind Rivera in third place. Roberson's difficulty remains a potential asset for World's team selection; refining landings and improving E-scores will be key heading into September.

Blakely's Two-Event Comeback

Skye Blakely competed two of four events, in a comeback after injuring her Achilles tendon during last year's Olympic trials. Blakely triumphantly emerged from the event as co-National Champion on bars, tied with Hezly Rivera, and silver medalist on beam. Her performances reinforce her status as a contender who can deliver on key events for the U.S. team at Worlds.

Implications for World Championships Selection

The September selection event will determine the four-woman team for the 2025 World Championships event in Jakarta, Indonesia later this year, October 19-25. The all-around winner at that event will earn an automatic spot on the US team; the remaining positions will be filled based on other factors, including finishes at these nationals, performance at the selection event, and results at other 2025 competitions.
