Skye Blakely completed the 2026 World Championships in Rotterdam with four medals, the most of any woman at the competition. The University of Florida gymnast won World AA gold, earned VT and UB bronze, and helped the US take Team silver.
Her results followed a return that spanned two competitive systems. After a right Achilles tendon tear ended her 2024 Olympic Trials participation, Blakely rebuilt her competitive program at Florida, returned to elite AA, and won the World AA title.
World Team Titles Before Florida
Blakely helped the US win World Team gold in 2022 and 2023, finishing fifth in the 2022 BB final. She earned three apparatus silver medals at the 2023 US Championships, then finished second in AA and VT and third in UB and BB at the 2024 national championships.
The Achilles injury came during training at the 2024 US Olympic Trials, ending her participation before competition began.
A Return Through Florida
Blakely made her Florida debut in January 2025, 199 days after the injury, competing on UB during her freshman season. She returned to elite competition that summer, sharing the 2025 US national UB title with Hezly Rivera and earning BB silver. At the 2025 World Championships in Jakarta, she placed fourth in the UB final with 14.333.
Her 2026 sophomore season at Florida expanded her competitive program. Blakely added BB and FX in January, followed by VT and AA in February. She recorded 10.0s on BB and UB, reached a collegiate AA high of 39.750, and earned 11 event titles.
Her BB 10.0 made Skye and older sister Sloane the fifth set of sisters in collegiate gymnastics history to earn perfect scores. Blakely shared SEC Specialist of the Year honors, earned national collegiate UB silver with 9.975, and contributed to Florida's third-place team finish. She finished the season as a four-time collegiate All-American.
Back to Elite AA
Returning to the elite season, Blakely won UB and BB at the 2026 US Classic. At the US Championships, she contested elite AA for the first time since 2024, finishing seventh overall and earning UB silver. She subsequently earned selection to her fourth World Championships team.
In Rotterdam, Blakely qualified second in AA with 55.465 and advanced to the AA, VT, UB, and BB finals.
Four Medals in Rotterdam
In the October 21 Team Final, Blakely contributed VT 14.300, UB 14.400, and BB 13.266 as the US earned silver with 165.531, just 0.233 behind China. The US also secured its place in the LA28 women's team competition.
Blakely won the World AA title on October 23 with 55.733, posting the final's highest combined execution score, 33.433. She added VT bronze and UB bronze on October 24, then finished sixth in the BB final on October 25.
| Final | Place | Score |
|---|---|---|
| AA | Gold | 55.733 |
| Team | Silver | 165.531 |
| VT | Bronze | 14.166 |
| UB | Bronze | 14.600 |
| BB | 6th | 13.633 |
Her four medals brought her career World Championships total to six. She became the fourth US woman to win at least four medals at a single Worlds, joining Simone Biles, Nastia Liukin, and Rebecca Bross.
Blakely also became the first gymnast to compete collegiately and win the World AA title in the same calendar year. Her elite record now includes two World Team gold medals, a World AA title, and a US national UB title, alongside an AA program at Florida.
